オーストラリア軍特殊部隊によるカウンターテロ訓練を首相・国防大臣が視察

オーストラリアのマルコム・ターンブル (Malcolm Turnbull) 首相とマライズ・ペイン (Marise Payne) 国防大臣が、テロ事案の発生に際して対処に当たる特殊作戦コマンドの隊員による訓練展示を視察。その際の様子の一部を収めた映像が国防省・陸軍のチャンネルを通じて公開された。

Counter Terrorism Video

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Minister for Defence Marise Payne watched Australian Army Special Forces in action during a Special Operations Command counter-terrorism capability demonstration at Holsworthy Barracks on 29 March 2016. The demonstration included siege scenarios where soldiers stormed buildings by air and foot, a showcase of the precision drills and tactics used during a building assault and also static displays of Defence specialist equipment.

カウンターテロの対処能力を示すこの訓練は、3 月 29 日にオーストラリア東南部 ニューサウスウェールズ州にある陸軍のホルズワージー軍事空港 (Holsworthy Barracks) を舞台におこなわれた。

テロ事案発生に伴い、全身を近代的な装備に身を包んだ特殊部隊員が、陸上では車両を、また上空からはヘリコプターを使って現場に急行し、テロリストにより占拠された建物を包囲、襲撃するというシナリオとなっている。

オーストラリア軍特殊作戦コマンドは、陸・海・空 各軍に所属する多くのスペシャリストらにより構成されており、国内外のカウンターテロ活動について世界クラスの対処能力を提供している。

特殊作戦コマンドを構成する各ユニットは以下の通り。
