"R.U.S.E." や "Act of War" シリーズを手掛けた Eugen Systems は、PC専用の新作 RTS (Real Time Strategy) ゲーム、"European Escalation" をリリース。価格は $39.99 。現在 プロモーション映像が YouTube に公開中となっている。
映像では、NATO (北大西洋条約機構) 軍と ワルシャワ条約機構 の両軍が「鉄のカーテン」を挟み、軍事衝突する高まりが最高潮に達する中、ドイツ Ramstein, Allstedt 基地 で 航空・地上の両部隊が急ピッチで配備される様子が描かれている。
European Escalation は、戦場の最前線で展開するリアリズムを追求した戦略ゲームで、冷戦が "第三次世界大戦" になったと仮定する中で進行する。ゲーム中に登場する車輌やユニットは 350種類以上となり、80年代の欧州を股に掛けた壮大な軍事絵巻を描いている。150平方キロメートルもの巨大なマップには、戦車、ヘリコプター、分隊における歩兵らによる激戦が繰り広げられる。この壮大なスケールを IRISZOOM™ エンジンが息を呑むようなグラフィックと共に描くことになる。オンラインモードでは8人での対戦が可能。
